ART-IN-TIME GALLERY ROOM 11:

SELECTION OF ARTWORKS LEFT "UNFINISHED" BY GENE GOULD

"A painting is never finished as long as the artist is still alive" is something that Gene Gould often said.

Corroborating this statement, there are photographic records showing how Gene Gould occasionally made significant changes to one of his older paintings, regardless of whether he had previously signed and dated it. In addition, he would often set aside for a long time unfinished or even some essentially finished works, with the idea that he could improve them later when the proper inspiration would come to him. The artworks shown on this page are just a selection of works from these two categories: nearly finished and clearly still in progress.
